Benefits of Wool

Designed by nature to save energy.

Why Insulate?

The main benefits of insulation is the way in which it prevents warm air from escaping your home. It acts as a barrier, by adding pockets of air within the structure of your roof, loft floor or walls. However these are not the only features to think about when planning insulation as there is more elements within a building that needs insulation.

Examples of these are plumbing pipes insulation, acoustic insulation for internal cavity walls, supply pipes, or waste pipes.

Insulating your building properly will not only save energy, it will save money.

Why Wool?

Natural

Wool is a protein fibre formed in the sheep skin, and is one hundred percent natural. No man-made alternative has yet to produce a fibre which matches its unique properties.

Renewable

As long as there is grass to graze on, every year sheep will produce a new fleece; making wool a renewable fibre source.

Breathable

Wool fibres are crimped, and form millions of tiny pockets of air. This unique structure allows it to absorb and release moisture without compromising its thermal efficiency.

Fire-Retardant

Wool is naturally flame resistant and offers a greater level of fire safety than other fibres. Wool’s flame-resistant properties make it an ideal fibre for insulation.

Acoustic

The acoustic properties of wool insulation are often overlooked. Because of the crimped fibres forming millions of tiny pockets of air, together with the shape and density, sheep's wool is very effective at disrupting sound.

Purify

Sheep wool is proven to absorb and neutralise harmful substances. So using the sheep wool as insulation actually has health benefits and creates a feel-good indoor climate.
